What is Homestead Exemption?

A homestead exemption allows a partial exemption on a portion of the assessed value of your home. Georgia law provides that every homeowner is eligible to claim homestead exemption as a tax benefit that can amount to a considerable annual savings for the homeowner.

To qualify for the property tax exemption, the homeowner must file for homestead exemption either in person or by mail depending on the County in which you reside.
